The Oregon State city of Klamath Falls, named after the nearby Falls on the Link River, has a population of about 21,000 people and is the county seat of Klamath County. In 1902 it held its first Fair on the Klamath County Fairground and now regularly attracts 400,000 visitors. On that same Fairground races were held on a quarter horse 5 furlong oval racetrack complete with separate chute. Although a relatively minor affair, racing was traditionally held on 3 days over the period of the Fair, but did not survive the new millennium. Records suggest that the gates closed for the final time after the meeting on 22nd July 1995, although the Fair continues to be successful.
